ergobag figures

In 2010 the four friends Flo, Juliaan, Oliver and Sven founded ergobag. In the first year the enterprise won first place in the NUK Business Plan competition and secured a new home for 4200ergobag school backpacks. 5 wonderful and exciting years have passed since then and a lot has happened. Our school backpacks now find homes in about 20 different countries.

Sustainability in figures

Approximately 47.2 million used 0.5-liter PET bottles have been upcycled to make backpack textiles until now, thereby decreasing the unnecessary environmental burden caused by production. Compared to conventional production methods, waste water is reduced by 20%, energy use by 50%, and harmful emissions by 60%. As a consequence, 36,247.52 cubic meters of water have been saved which would otherwise have been necessary for the manufacturing process. 14 PET bottles are processed to make one ergolino, 51 are required for an ergobag set, and a total of 29 recycled 0.5-liter bottles are needed for a satch.

Our mission in figures

We are on a mission to have 3 million of our ergonomic school backpacks in the world by 2020 in a bid to take 6,000 tonnes of weight off the shoulders of schoolchildren. This will add up to a total of 70 million recycled 0.5-liter PET bottles.

It is still infinite fun to work in our little world of big backpacks.
